Gran Canaria is a top class windsurfing location. It's widely regarded as one of the best places in the world, with ideal wind and wave conditions all year round. This is where they hold the PWA Wave Classic Grand Prix.

You can go surfing all along the coast from east to south. Some top spots include Playa de las Canteras in Las Palmas and at Gáldar in the northwest corner.

For more experienced sailors, head to Pozo Isquierdo, where winds can reach up to 60 km/h per hour! or to Playa de Vargas where they hold the PWA competitions.

If you are just starting, you'd be better off learning in a more tranquil waters and sheltered harbours like Puerto Rico and Puerto de Mogán
