Head west of Puerto Rico and you’ll come to the idyllic village of Puerto de Morgan, also known as the “Venice of Gran Canaria” because of it many canals.
It’s a small, relaxed and friendly place. There are plenty of bars, restaurants and cafés here, all along the harbour. The thing to eat is definitely fish; guaranteed fresh, given the amount of fishing boats and proximity of the ocean!
The only problem is, it can be a bit pricey, but if you go slightly inland from the sea you’ll find some very nice local restaurants with much more reasonable prices.
To get here, head west on the road from Playa del Ingles or Puerto Rico and you can’t miss it. Alternatively you can take a boat to Puerto de Morgan. There are organised boat trips from various other cities in the south. If you can, take the boat; it’s the best ways to travel around the island!
