Valsequillo is a picturesque little village located in the centre of Gran Canaria.You’ll see some interesting historical sites both within the historic centre and the surrounding neighbourhoods.

Some of the most important ones are Iglesia de San Miguel Arcángel; the former Cavalry Headquarters; and the district of Tenteniguada at the foot of Roque del Saucillo. Head up to the Mirador del Helelchal. There are some fantastic views out over the steep cliffs from here. You’ll also see endless plains of colourful flowers and strawberries.

This area is famous for its gastronomy and agricultural production. The cheese they make here is particularly good. They also grow strawberries and almonds and produce some very fine wines. The best place to find top class local produce is at one of the famous Sunday markets.

Valsequillo is a lively village all year round, particularly in February, when the “Almendrero en Flor” festival is on. This is a celebration of the blooming of the almond trees. Another important festival is the horse fair or “Fiesta del Caballo”.

Valsequillo offers some excellent gastronomic delights and some superb natural scenery.
