The waters around Gran Canaria are a sailor's paradise. This is where the annual Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC) departs from. The best time to go sailing here is between April and October. It's a great place to learn the sport too. The local clubs have produced several Olympic sailing champions over the years.

Gran Canaria has some of the best practising conditions in Spain. If you go to any seaside resort you'll find a sailing school that can offer expert training and provide you with all you need to get started.

The main sailing centres on the island are; Las Palmas, Puerto Rico, Pasito Blanco, Arguineguin and Puerto de Mogán.
