The waters surrounding the island are home to a fascinating array of wildlife and have some spectacular underwater landscapes with shipwrecks, caves, and massive vertical drops. Visibility is usually very good.

The marine reserve of El Cabrón at Playa del Cabrón is one of the best spots on the island; the visibility and diversity of wildlife here is truly amazing. If you're into underwater photography, go to Pasito Blanco - it has perfect conditions.

There are two ship wrecks of the coast of Gran Canaria; one at La Isleta in the northeast and the other at Sardinia in the northwest of the island.

There are a wide variety of dive sites suitable for both beginner and advanced. There are also plenty of dive schools on the island where you can do all the proper courses, get certified and rent out equipment.

Remember, it's not possible to rent out equipment unless you have your certification card!
